Agogo Ewo Makes African Film Festival
POPULAR Nigerian movie, Agogo Ewo has been listed among other notable films in this year's Traveling Series, courtesy of the African Film Festival. Agogo Ewo is produced by well acclaimed filmmaker, Tunde Kelani.
Other African films named in the series include: Cosmic Africa, Dirt For Dinner, Soldiers Of The Rock, Madame Brouette, About Braids / Histoire De Tresses, For The Night / Pour La Nuit and Kounandi.
African Film Festival (AFF) also released its event's bulletin for the early part of the year.
According to the release, AFF's Traveling Series continues at Cine Ballaj‡, in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico - January 14 through 16 at Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture while Black History Month Screening and Discussion holds February 17.
AFF Inc. which is now in our second decade, hopes to continue providing audiences with the best cinematic fare coming out of the Africa continent and its Diaspora.
In the meantime, AFF equally has plenty in store for 2005 and beyond, especially movies. Following a successful outing of the
9th African Film Festival National Traveling Series which began last year the showing remains until May 2005 to compliment its successful run at Chicago's FACETS in November. AFF's Traveling Series was cited as "entertaining and instructive" by Chicago's leading newspaper, the Chicago Tribune, which also gave the Traveling Series film Cosmic Africa 3.5 stars.
The next site in the series is Cine Ballaj‡ in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico. Screenings are scheduled to take place : January 14th -16th, 2005.

Meanwhile, the U.S. National Traveling Series of African Cinema has given audiences the unique experience of watching African cinema for the past eight years. The film program travels to cultural institutions, museums, and universities in different cities in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. In this way, AFF is able to provide enhanced viewing opportunities for audiences who would otherwise not have access to African cinema.

AFF's also celebrates the Black History Month at the Schomburg Center, New York's prestigious and foremost research center on the Black experience. There would be a film screening followed by a discussion on the upcoming elections in Zimbabwe. This event will take place on 17th February at 7:00 pm. The organisation says this year's African Film Festival line-up of programs and events, will reinforce her goals for continued awareness and greater understanding of African culture and cinema. "This year promises to be unique in many ways, including collaborations with some old and new partners."
