The Chairperson of the African Union Commission meets the new Permanent Representative of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia

The new Ambassador of the Islamic Republic of The Gambia to Ethiopia and Permanent Representative to the African Union, HE Mr. Mass AxiGye, presented on Monday, 11 January 2016, his letter of credence to H.E. Dr. Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma, Chairperson of the African Union Commission (AUC).

The new Ambassador to the African Union Commission thanked the AUC Chairperson for her leadership and recalled some on-going activities by the Gambia, such as the celebration of the 10th anniversary of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC), the domestication of Agenda 2063 and the preparation to host the TICAD ministerial conference. He also expressed his commitment to continue, like his predecessor, to strengthen the good relations between The Gambia and the AUC.

The Chairperson of the African Union Commission congratulated HE Mr. Mass AxiGye, for his appointment and wished him a successful tour of duty.

The Chairperson indicated to HE Mr. Mass AxiGye, that she counted on his contribution to the work of the African Union. She also expressed the wish that Ambassador AxiGye will greatly learn from his collaboration with the African Union, especially as he assumes duty at the beginning of the preparations for the African Union Summit scheduled at the end of this month.

Finally, the Chairperson paid tribute to the Leader and the government of the Islamic Republic of the Gambia for their continued support to the African Union Commission.
