Sound Sultan Explains Why Modern-day Artistes Release Crap Music

SAN FRANCISCO, January 08, (THEWILL) – Legendary Nigerian musician, Sound Sultan has explained that the poor quality of music presently churned out by today artistes is as a result of the pressure mounted by fans who care less about professionalism.

Speaking while exchanging views with newsmen in Lagos on Friday, the pop singer said the society should ordinarily benefit immensely from the type of music they hear as music ought to be an important tool for societal growth.

He stressed that the quality of work by modern artistes is supposed to attract the right level of patronage from listeners, adding that the current trend of music has regrettably become a bad influence on most musicians.

His words, “You see those crap music and all those other things, I don't know if it's me that's buying them or if it's me that's telling them to play it.

“There must be somebody telling people that they want to hear that thing. I feel music is a great tool that we should not misuse, if music is misused, it can tell a lot on the generation.”

The ‘Jagbajantis’ crooner further noted that “I want to be able to play my music where my kids are, not tell them to cover their ears.

“When there is clamour, where there is demand for something, then they will keep putting it upfront to their audience.

“They want to satisfy their audience, they don't want to bore anybody with their airplay. So if there's stuff like that going on, trust me, it's a controlled market, somebody is doing something somewhere.

“I don't really concentrate on pointing fingers, I just try to deafen your ears with my own sense of making music.

“Most musicians usually produce new works without working hard on them to be masterpieces.”
