NFF HAILS VICTORIOUS HOME EAGLES

Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) President, Abdullahi Sani Lulu, has hailed the Home Eagles for cliching the West African Football Union (WAFU) trophy concluded on Sunday at the MKO Abiola International Stadium in Abeokuta.

Lulu said the Home Eagles' victory has brought respite to the football house after the team failed to qualify for the African Cup of Nations Championship (CHAN) to be held in Sudan. The Mena of Niger Republic dumped out the homeboys en route to the championship.

But against all expectations, the Home Eagles redeemed their image by eliminating the Terenga Lions of Senegal 2-0 to lift the inaugural trophy at the WAFU Championship.

Reacting to the victory, Lulu said that the boys had lifted up his board's spirit again and promised to give them all the support they might need.

'The Home Eagles' victory on Sunday was a very big relief for me, at last, they have been able to redeemed their image, which was almost shattered after losing out to Niger Republic at the CHAN Championship.

'I'm happy for them, it was a work well-done by Amokachi and his boys. This has passed a message that we should expect better things in future. 'I'm very much aware that a lot of Nigerians lost confident in them. Some people had even written them off. But with this result, it shows that there is hope in the boys.

'I'm pleading with Nigerians to give the Super Eagles and the new Coach, Lagerback chance to perform. I believe they will make us proud at the South Africa 2010 World Cup.
