The Commandant General of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Abdullahi Gana Muhammadu, has expressed satisfaction over the security situation across the country as Muslim faithful celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

Speaking to journalist in Abuja, the Commandant General thanked Almighty Allah for a hitch-free celebration and the peace recorded nationwide.

He stated that himself and principal officers of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps have been involved in the patrol as a way of assuring Nigerians of the security of lives and property during the festive period.

Gana, however said, No going back on anti vandalism war, he stressed that activities of economic saboteurs are geared towards selfishness and self-interest without taking into consideration the adverse effect on the society.

He said the corps is prepared to ensure that vandalisation of oil pipelines, electricity cables and equipment, telecommunication installations and other infrastructure that are of mutual benefit to the people, are stopped.

Nigeria, he said, has lost billions of naira to the activities of vandals and most worrisome is the cost of repairs of the vandalised equipment.

According to him, the money meant for developing and improving the economy to the benefit of citizens as dividends of democracy, is being channelled towards repairing and replacing vandalised items.

He therefore urged citizens to contribute their quota in the fight against Vandalism and other social vices.
