Following the judgment of the Lagos State National and State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal dismissing the petition against his victory over the weekend, the senator representing Lagos West Senatorial District, Senator Solomon Adeola has stated that the petition against his victory is a frivolous distraction against his popular mandate from the people.

The senator who was addressing his supporters following the victory said that he was happy that the judgment which lasted for two and half hours was not determined on technical grounds as the tribunal stated that in spite of the petition falling short on many technical grounds, the case was determine on its merit.

“I am happy that the Tribunal has affirmed the mandate freely given to me on March 28. I had no doubt that the tribunal would vindicate me but was unease about the case being decided on technical grounds as this would not be a validation in the true sense. The tribunal chairman and members after agreeing that the case of the petitioner lack merit on several technical grounds nevertheless went ahead to consider the case and dismiss it in its entirety” Senator Adeola stated.

He said the petition has distracted him from giving effective representation that he is known for while it lasted adding that now that the case is over his constituents should expect more dividends of democracy from him.

“We are going to continue our programmes of free GCE/NECO and JAMB forms, free medical care, construction of boreholes and supply of transformers for areas in need as well as other specific intervention like supply of lifejackets for boat operators within the constraints of our present

economic realities” the senator stated.
Responding on behalf of his constituents, Hon Samuel Adejare, a former member of the House of Representatives who represented Agege in the 7th national Assembly, said that the people of Lagos West district have no doubt in the Senator ability for effective representation as he has amply demonstrated in his twelve years as a legislator from the state to the federal legislature.
