Mrs Linda Nyakairima the widow of a departed general in an East African country has reveal that throughout her 20-year-marriage with Gen. Joseph Aronda Nyakairima, she had never heard of heart problem as health problem for her husband.

Her statement contradicts the official version by Uganda government regarding the cause of death of the country’s Internal Affairs minister and Member of Parliament.

“He’s [Gen. Aronda] been full of life," said Linda Nyakairima, adding that: "This heart problem they [the government] are talking about, true it might have been there, but the 20 years I have lived with my husband, I have never seen him sick."

Mrs Nyakairima, was speaking to hundred of thousands of the mourners who turned up at Kololo National Grounds on Friday, September 18, to pray for the fallen Uganda's Internal Affairs Minister and former army commander, Gen. Aronda.

Last weekend, Gen Aronda mysteriously died on a flight from South Korea en route to Dubai. Since then controversial and contradicting statements have been made.

There has been two version that; he died in the airport lounge another he died on the flight.

A source with Emirates Airline, confirmed that, he was discovered lifeless during the announcement of landing. According to the source; the flight attendant who approached the general to inform him and get ready for a landing aircraft; realised he was lifeless.

The Executive Director of the Uganda Media Centre and government spokesperson, Ofono Opondo announced that Gen. Aronda’s death was due to heart attack even before the post-mortem.

When paid a curtsy visit at the home of the deceased [Gen. Aronda] to counsel the family, President Museveni was reported saying: “I received news of Gen. Aronda’s death the other day when I arrived in India. My immediate thinking was maybe it was an accident.” “I didn’t know he had any medical problem,” Museveni is reported to have said.

Like many previous commentators, speakers and friends of Gen. Aronda, the widow expressed shock about the health conditions the coroner team announced as the cause her husband’s death. She said that, she never knew about the sickness they [a team of medical experts] said killed him.

"My Children are witnesses. We have never seen him fail to get out of bed to go and work,” Mrs Nyakairima told the dead-silent audience in a speech that sounded equivocal denying the official version.

In a motionless speech, no voice breaking Mrs Nyakairima told the mourners that, for the first time in 20 years, she got know such health conditions suggested as the cause of death of her husband.

“He was full of strength, until Saturday when we were told that he's dead," said Mrs Nyakairima, adding that: He, would never have wanted to see anybody suffer.”

Mrs Nyakairima’s assertions was exactly as many of her husband's colleages, including Brig. Gen. Wasswa Kasirye Gwanga 5 days ago.

Mrs Nyakairima, Brig. Gen. Kasirye Gwanga including Gen. Museveni 's statements when visited the home of his fallen minister differ from government’s official version and statement issued in Parliament.

Another bush war comrade and a friend to the deceased general, Brig. Gen. Wasswa Kasirye Gwanga said his friend was killed.

Appearing in an interview on a local TV station, the NBS, a day after the death of Gen. Aronda, Brig. Gen. Kasirye Gwanga, said: "Aronda was murdered."

Gen. Kasirye claimed Gen Aronda had expressed concerns about threatening phone calls he was receiving in regards to the National Identity Cards project he was supervising. "Cut the Crap. I don't buy it. You've done away with Aronda."

"Aronda was killed, " he added "You can quote me." He said those responsible for Gen. Aronda’s death, had opened a can of warms within the military establishment.

Gen. Aronda’s name had prominently appeared in a ‘Muhoozi Project’ dossier that was authored by former coordinator of all intelligence services and presidential advisor, Gen. David Sejusa.

Gen. David Sejusa, had claimed Aronda, himself, Amama Mbabazi the former prime minister now running for president against Gen. Museveni were on a list of people listed for elimination because they allegedly opposed Muhoozi project plan to groom Muhoozi Kaenerugaba, Museveni's son to succeed the father. Before he temporarily fled to the U.K. Sejusa asked Internal Security Organization (ISO) chief, Brig. Ronnie Balya, to investigate the alleged assassination plot.

Whilst the government told the Parliament that, the bereaved family was entirely satisfied with the results of the post-mortem report, Mrs Nyakairima speech today - Friday suggests otherwise.

According to a report allegedly compiled by a team of experts that included, pathologists and doctors from National Referral Hospital- Mulago in the capital Kampala, they concluded that Gen Aronda died due to acute heart failure.

A senior government official also an experienced police pathologist, Dr Moses Byaruhanga was quoted as explaining that; the small scars were found in the swollen heart of Gen. Aronda, an indication that he could have suffered the problem for some time.

Additionally; the Ugandan leader, Museveni earlier been quoted, whilst at the home of the deceased general, that he [ Museveni ] had never known of Gen. Aronda of being with any health problems.

Museveni changed the earlier statement and said: “The body is like a carbon paper. Everything that goes in there is recorded. The doctors found that he had suffered two other heart attacks, before the one that took him last Saturday.”

Museveni was also quoted wondering that: “How could have this happened?”
