3 Die As Suicide Bombers Rock Maiduguri

BEVERLY HILLS, August 26, (THEWILL) – Just as the nation was in grief over the twin explosions which killed no fewer than six persons in Damaturu, the Yobe State capital, Tuesday, two suicide bombers, same day, rocked the airport roundabout along Maiduguri/Damaturu Highway in the Borno State capital, killing themselves and one security personnel.

Confirming the incident, Wednesday, Borno State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Aderemi Opadokun, said: “Yes, there was (an) explosion at about 22:10hrs yesterday 25/8/15 near troops on guard location by airport roundabout along Maiduguri/ Damaturu Highway when two suicide bombers on foot detonated IEDs strapped on their bodies during questioning, killing themselves and one security personnel.”

Opadokun, who added that investigation into the explosion was ongoing, explained that the scene was visited to comb and render the area safe and that the casualties had been evacuated to the mortuary.
