The law students particularly noted with admiration that since the coming of the governor in 2011, Owerri the State capital has been given a facelift.

Speaking through its leader, Mr. Frank Amandi, who represented the Organization’s National President, Uche Ejimonye, the group informed the Deputy Governor that they had come to congratulate him and his boss, the state governor, Owelle Rochas Okorocha, for their hard won victory in the just concluded 2015 gubernatorial elections in Imo State. The delegation described the election as free and fair and asked those who lost at the election to courageously pitch tent with the governor so that the State can move forward.

According to Mr. Amandi, the victory of the deputy governor and his boss at the election is a testimony of their wide acceptance by the Imo people.

The students asked the governor and his deputy not to back down from their avowed determination to develop the State and empower the people.

While presenting an Award to the Deputy Governor tagged “An Award of Honour” by CALSAN for his Humility, Loyalty and Outstanding Contributions to the Rescue Mission success and political developments in Nigeria, a member of the delegation, Mr. Nwokeogu Kelechi, described the Deputy Governor as a figure of outstanding leadership qualities whose life offers a fascinating practical model to young people.

The CALSAN delegation also informed the Deputy Governor that CALSAN has held its Annual National Conference with Imo as the host State. The leader of the students body’s delegation, informed the number two citizen of the State that the visiting students were highly impressed with the level of development Imo has experienced under the Rescue Mission government of APC. The deputy governor was later presented with a special copy of the Beacons Magazine, an annual publication of CALSAN.

In his response, the deputy governor thanked the catholic law students’ delegation for their support and encouragement to the rescue mission government of Gov. Okorocha. He informed the students that their visit is the first of its kind by any student body since the new administration took off, and commended them for the rare initiative.

On the direction of the new administration and what to expect, the number two citizen of the State told the students that the policy thrust of the government is focused on job creation through an aggressive employment programme and establishment of factories through a statewide industrialization programme. He stated that despite his tight engagement with critical issues at the federal level, the governor has hit the ground running and Imo citizens should expect a lot of actions in the next 90 days.

The Deputy Governor told his young audience that the Rescue Mission is poised to do more rather than scale down on its existing or ongoing policies and programmes meant to improve the wellbeing of the people. He commended them for the successful hosting of the CALSAN annual conference in the state and for representing the State very well.
