The National Industrial Court sitting in Enugu yesterday ordered striking judiciary workers in the state to suspend the action and return to their offices.

The Court presided over by Hon. Justice A. Ibrahim handed down the order while hearing a suit filed by the Attorney General of Enugu State, Anthony Ani SAN against the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN) and two others.

The Court said the interim order was pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice.

It also directed that the order be served on the respondents counsel respectively with a hearing notice and proof of service of same kept in the case file before the adjourned date.

The Court said, 'An interim Order is hereby made against the Respondents to suspend their strike action pending the hearing and determination of the motion on Notice'.

It would be recalled that judiciary workers had embarked on the strike early this year to protest what they said was the failure of the state to comply with the judgement of the Federal High Court on financial autonomy of the Judiciary.

It is a claim that the state government has repeatedly denied accusing JUSUN of unnecessarily disrupting the smooth operation of the Judiciary in the state.
