Piracy: Babatunde Fashola Meets Tunde Kelani, Yemi Shodimu Others (Pictures)

The Nigerian entertainment industry is crying out for the immediate end to the piracy that is eating deep into the pockets of movie producers and artistes alike.

Actors, producers and concerned citizenry joined the march led by Yemi Shodimu to seize pirated copies of movies off the streets of Lagos that are found on the persons of hawkers. The seizure happened around the Ikeja area of Lagos State.

The stakeholders include Tunde Kelani, Jide Kosoko, Yemi Shodimu, Kunle Afolayan, Sunkanmi Omobolanle, Iyabo Ojo, who marched to the office of governor of Lagos State, Babatunde Fashola to state their case and clamour for support of the government in fighting the menace.

Tunde Kelani, who heads Mainframe Productions who spoke during the march stated that the menace has reached critical heights and solutions should be proffered with the assistance of the government.

Chief Executive Officer, Golden Effects Media, Kunle Afolayan recounted his experience at the hands of the pirates at Alaba International Market, Lagos. He stated that his latest movie had been released on the streets before its official commissioning.

The governor thanked them before reminding them that piracy is a global issue but his government will look into the matter.
