SAN FRANCISCO, March 18, (THEWILL) – Mr. Femi Fani-Kayode, the spokesman of the Peoples Democratic Party Presidential Campaign Organisation and a former federal cabinet member, who is being prosecuted by the EFCC for money laundering and theft of government funds when he served as minister may be headed for prison following his surety's letter to a Federal High Court seeking to withdraw as guarantor for the controversial politician.

Mr. Wale Ajisebutu, who was one of the sureties for Mr. Fani-Kayode, had filed an application before Justice Rita Ofili-Ajumogobia on Tuesday, but the appeal was not heard because the accused had earlier applied to the court seeking an adjournment.

According to a news report in Nigeria's Punch newspaper, Ajisebutu wrote that he urgently needed the documents for the real estate property he deposited with the court in fulfillment of Fani-Kayode's N200 million bail as ordered by then trial judge, Justice Ramat Mohammed in January 2009.

The bail was in the sum of N200m.
Hearing in the criminal suit resumes on March 26, 2015.
