40 Youths Abducted In Borno

Gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Haram terrorist stormed Malari village of Damboa local government area of Borno state and abducted over 40 youths.

A resident of the area Mallam Bulama who fled to Maiduguri said the incident which occurred at about 8:00PM on Wednesday where the gunmen gathered the whole males in the village for preaching after which they took away over 40 youths.ac

He said “they gather us in front of village head`s house for preaching after which they took away over 40 of our unmarried youths between the ages of 10 to 23 years toward Sambiza forest but they did touch a single married man”

“among the youths includes 3 of my sons, 2 sons of my immediate junior brother and my uncle`s son, though most of us in the village are in one way or the other all related. They said they not going to kill anybody but we have fled the village in fear of our dear lives, as we don't believe in them any time they come again they kill us, Bulama stated.

Malari village is 7 kilometr3es away from Mulgwai village and about 20 kilometers away from Sambiza forest.

An resident of Mulgwai town Garba Lawan who also fled the village said they have fled the village on hearing the bad news of the abduction of the youths in Malari, because according to him the Boko Haram insurgents used to go to their village and gathered them in front of the District of of Mulgwai palace to preach for them.

“Now most of our people are fleeing the village in fear of their lives, as they used to come and preach in the village and go away but with the recent abduction we are afraid they may at anytime come and also abduct our children or even burn the village and kill us, Garba said.

Efforts to get the Borno state Police command Public Relations Officer DSP Gideon Jibrin for confirmation proved abortive, as his telephone line was switched off, as the time of filing in this report.
