Newcastle striker Papiss Cisse has accepted a Football Association charge of violent conduct.

Cisse will now serve a three-match suspension and misses the forthcoming fixtures against Burnley, Leicester and Chelsea.

The 29-year-old was cited for swinging an elbow at Seamus Coleman during the first half of his side's 3-2 victory over Everton on Sunday.

Cisse escaped punishment during the St James' Park clash and went on to score Newcastle's first goal.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Everton manager Roberto Martinez had called for Cisse to be punished.

He said: “This is unacceptable, that an action like that goes unpunished. You get a situation where everyone is fighting for their position, all in control, and it's a clear elbow to try and hurt someone.

“Those are not actions we want to see on a football pitch. And the referee should have seen it.”
