Akinlaja Lauds Mimiko on 'Iroko Platform'

A member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Joseph Akinlaja has commended Dr. Olusegun Mimiko, Governor of Ondo State for initiating programmes to transform the state

Akinlaja spoke during the week at the inauguration and public lecture of the programme, Iroko Legacy Platform, which held at the Adegbemile House, Akure.

The theme of the lecture was Legacies of Good Governance As Catalyst of Socio-Political Development.

Akinlaja, who doubles as chairman of the group, said the Mimiko administration remained a pride to Ondo State and to the entire black race.

The lawmaker commended the youth of the state for associating with the celebration of the legacies of excellence and good governance. He promised that Iroko Legacy Platform will be championed by the young and the old to promote excellence in governance.

Said the lawmaker, “It is most gratifying and commendable that today we all can see a developed and prosperous Ondo State which has become the pride of Africa and the Black race.

“We are also here to celebrate the life of a man that has displayed courage, and out of his wealth of experience rekindled our innovative instinct as a State, showcased our character and turned the dream of Ondo State into reality.”

'Continued Akinlaja, “I must also note here that I am encouraged by the teeming supports we have received from our youth who are endowed with fresh ideas, bubbling energy and a passionate desire for the sustenance of Iroko Legacies.

“You are the hope of this nation, without you, we really can't talk of a future with hope and confidence. Although that does not mean that Iroko Legacy Platform is exclusively for the youth, people of older generation have a part to play in this as well.” Akinlaja stated.

Akinlaja who represents Ondo East/West Federal Constituency in the National Assembly, listed Governor Mimiko's achievements in urban renewal, transportation, sports, social welfare, agriculture, among other sectors,

Governor Mimiko's intervention in health care, particularly the Abiye programme, noted the legislator, remained the “mother of all achievements.”

According to him, ”Abiye has recorded so much success such that it has been sign posted as the model for tackling infant and maternal mortality in the developing world.

“This global acclaim is evident in the fact that the World Bank officially listed Ondo State Abiye programme on its website as one of the success stories coming out of Africa.”
