The Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye, has called on all

stakeholders to desist from any action capable of disrupting the peaceful

transition of power from the incumbent governor, Kayode Fayemi to the

Governor-Elect, Ayodele Fayose, saying; “Ekiti is greater than the

interests of any individual or group.”
The Minister, who said nothing can prevent Fayose from assuming office as

Ekiti State Governor on October 16, 2014, added that; “Since Ekiti people

have overwhelmingly expressed their preference for the Peoples Democratic

Party (PDP) and Fayose, what should concern all right thinking

stakeholders in Ekiti is the peaceful transition of power from the

incumbent governor to the governor-elect.”
In a statement by the Minister, on Tuesday, he said; “October 16 should be

seen as transition of power from one Ekiti man to another, not from All

Progressives Congress (APC) to PDP.”
Speaking further, Adeyeye said; “Even the whitemen that colonised us

handed over power to Nigerians without bloodshed. It was done in an

atmosphere devoid of rancour.
“I believe Governor Fayemi and his party-men will take a cue from this

because if the white colonialists did not throw Nigeria into chaos in

1960, no individual or group should also throw Ekiti State into chaos in

2014 because they are losing power.”
The Minister said; “Ekiti people have spoken loudly on June 21 and I think

what we should all do is to respect the wish of the people and in the

interest of the State and its people, pray for the incoming administration

to succeed.
“Like I have maintained, no individual or group should do anything that

will rubbish the good image Ekiti people built for themselves and the

State with the June 21
election.
“Those fanning embers of crisis in Ekiti State should therefore be

conscientious enough to know that no blood of an Ekiti person is worth

shedding for anyone or group to retain power.”
