Rivers PDP Welcomes Former Khana Council Chairman Dumping Of APC With Over 5,000 Supporters

…Says APC Is Dead In Khana

By Rivers State PDP

The Rivers State Chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, describes the defection to its fold by the former Executive Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, and Chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Gregory Bariledum Nwidam, as a monumental victory and an elucidation of the collapse of APC in the area.

The PDP notes that with the dumping of the APC by the former Chairman of Khana Local Government Area with over 5000 APC members nothing is left of the Party in the area, believing that the former APC supporters took such applaudable decision on realization that the APC has nothing to offer the people, as it is characterized with despotic leadership pattern.

While congratulating Hon Nwidam and other APC decampees for their courage in the face of obvious intimidation by the Governor of the State, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Amaechi, aimed at stopping them from abandoning him in the APC, the PDP assures them of proper reintegration and utilization in the party.

To us, the return of the former Chairman is not only a vindication of our consistent position that Amaechi will be left alone in the APC, but further justifies the PDP as a Party in the vein of all patriotic and responsible Rivers people.

Our doors are open for more of our brothers and sisters who are only on 'Sabbatarian sojourn' in the APC, and we hope to warmly receive them back in the coming days.

The PDP reiterates its resolve to offer the people of the State and the nation a purposeful and development sensitive government, the kind we have continued to offer at the national level and will be extended to the State as we take over governance in Rivers State come 2015.

The Party therefore, calls on the people of Khana LGA and by extension citizens of Rivers State not to be swayed by the so called 'empowerment programmes' by the Rivers State Government, as it is only aimed at influencing their membership of the APC.
