The Executive Secretary of the National Commission for Nomadic Education, Nafisatu Muhammad, said 66 per cent improvement on girl-child education has been achieved through Gender Education Project (GEP). Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday, he said the GEP is an empowerment programme designed by the Federal Ministry of Education to give educational access to boys and girls in the southern and northern parts of the country respectively.

'In the current data, you still find girls still hawking although it has improved with a lot of sensitisation and mobilisation that is going on under the GEP.

'There has been a lot of it going on, so there has been some slight changes in the attitude of girls in the level of participation in education. This is a very unique and timely intervention by the Federal Ministry of Education, as it will accelerate the participation of the girl-child in education,' Mrs. Muhammad said.
