FOUR HELD FOR ALLEGED MURDER

A Chief Magistrate in Asaba, Patricia Nsolo, has order that four men charged with the murder of an unidentified person be remanded in prison custody.

The accused persons, who appeared before the chief magistrate on Tuesday in Asaba, are Chibueze Udeh, 38, Onyeka Ohaenyosi, 25, Michael Erigo, 32 and Ngozi Okwudili, 22.

The Police Prosecutor, Essien Ukpeme, told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on December 22, 2009 behind Nigeria Television Authority Asaba.

Mr. Ukpeme said that the suspects on the same day and place conspired to commit murder.

The Chief Magistrate, who did not take the plea of the accused persons, said that the case was beyond the jurisdiction of her court.

She, however, ordered that duplicate copies of the accused persons' case files be sent to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for advice.

The chief magistrate adjourned the case till March 29, for mention.
