Fayose cautions Fashola on Ekiti Guber Election, Says; "He should Stop insulting Ekiti People"
The Ayo Fayose Campaign Organisation (AFCO) has cautioned the Lagos State Governor, Mr Babatunde Fashola to refrain from insulting Ekiti people with his comments on the last Saturday governorship election, saying; "The governor's comment that Ekiti people were induced with money to vote for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) is an insult on the entire people of Ekiti State, and we in the PDP will not take lightly to anyone insulting Ekiti people under whatever guise."
AFCO, which described Fashola's comment as hypocritical, added that; "The major problem of our friends in the All Progressives Congress (APC) is hypocrisy and until they purge themselves, that hypocrisy will destroy their party."
According to a release issued on Thursday, and signed by AFCO Director General, Chief Dipo Anisulowo, "it is only a hypocritical mind like Fashola that would claim thst the results of an election as credible as that of last Saturday was induced by money and that Dr Ayodele Fayose ought not to have been voted for by Ekiti people because he was standing trial for alleged corruption."
Anisulowo, who reminded Governor Fashola that Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon Adeyemi Kuforiji was also standing trial for alleged corruption, said; "Fashola should first remove the timber in his eyes before talking about the speck in other people's eyes."
He said; "It is on record that it was the APC that induced voters with cash ranging from N5,000 to N10,000, and many of the party chieftains were arrested while distributing money to voters.
"One of those arrested was Kayode Ojo, who was arrested by a combined team of state security service and the police at around 9: 25am on Saturday, in Iworoko-Ekiti, Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government area. He was arrested for allegedly distributing money to voters who had come to voting centers for accreditation, and his arrest was widely reported in the media.
"It is also on record that former governor of Kogi State, Alhaji Abubakar Audu was standing trial when he was fielded as Action Congress of Nigeria governorship candidate in 2011. It is also on record that Lagos State Speaker, Adeyemi Ikuforiji is standing trial for alleged corruption and Fashola has not asked the Speaker to step aside or resign.
"Also, the APC leader in the House of Representatives, Hon Femi Gbajabiamila was convicted by the Supreme Court of Georgia, United States of America, for defrauding his client of $25,000, and Fashola, the self appointed moral sherrif has not called for Gbajabiamila's resignation.
"Therefore, on the Ekiti election, Ekiti people have rejected the APC and its deceitful government and elected their own governor. If Fashola and his ilks are not pleased, they should go to the Tribunal, instead of insulting the collective intellects of Ekiti people."
