BEVERLY HILLS, CA, June 05, (THEWILL) - Boko Haram gunmen continued their attacks on Borno villages Tuesday killing no fewer than 100 persons in three border communities with Cameroon.

Local sources said the gunmen stormed the three villages - Attagara, Agapalawa and Aganjara â€'fully kitted in military camouflage as they drove into the villages in military vehicles.

The villages are located in Gwoza Local Government Area and lie Southeast of troubled Borno state , about 135 kilometres from Maiduguri, the state capital .

According to a security source who craved anonymity, 'The community actually thought the gunmen were military personnel. It didn't occur to them they were Boko Haram. It was too late by the time they found out as the insurgents indiscriminately opened fire on them.

'As I am speaking to you, over 83 corpses are laying in the villages now yet to be buried.' Another source from the village, who gave his name as Ibrahim, said though three of his relations were lucky to have escaped the attack, they had to return to the village again fearing they could be traced into the bush by the gunmen.

He disclosed that his relations were surprised by the magnitude of the attack and the fatality from it when they returned to the village. Though official confirmation of the attacks could not be obtained when filing this report, a security operative said no fewer than 83 persons were killed by the gunmen in the attacks on the three villages.
