The Labour Party Governorship candidate in Ekiti State, Hon Opeyemi Bamidele has called for immediate arrest of the Interim Chairman of

the All Progressives Congress in the State, Chief Jide Awe over allegation that the opposition are planning to bomb the State.

Bamidele said it will be a great security threat and shirking of one's responsibility should  the police play ostrich  about  such weighty allegation, cognizance of the litany of bombings and killings that had been witnessed in some parts of the country, culminating in the death of thousands of innocent Nigerians.

The party also absolved the Governor of Ondo State, Dr Olusegun Mimiko of culpability in the violence that erupted during the party's mega

rally in Ikere on Saturday, stating that the Governor did not invade Ekiti with hordes of thugs as claimed by  APC.

In a statement in Ado Ekiti on Tuesday by his media aide, Ahmed Salami, Bamidele charged the Inspector General of Police and the Director General of the State Security Service to invite Awe to Abuja to provide evidence to substantiate this misdirected allegation.

Awe at a press conference in Ado Ekiti on Monday alleged that the Peoples Democratic Party and Labour Party were planning to attack the State Government House and the APC secretariat located in Ajilosun Area with explosive device.

Exonerating his party of such evil intention, Bamidele declared that the LP cannot be part of any grand plot  that would lead to death of

innocent lives, saying such can only be done by a daring party like APC.

He said, “The PDP-controlled federal government has consistently been alleging that APC was responsible for the series of attacks being caused by the Boko Haram sect, it never mentioned LP for once. This is a pointer to the fact that the whole world has known which party is desperate for power.

“In Ekiti State, the APC, which is the ruling party has been behind over 90 percent  of the violence that have dogged the ongoing electioneering campaigns by various parties for the June 21 election.

The attack on our members and AIT crew during our mega rally in Ikere Ekiti and similar attacks in several other towns like Ilawe, Okemesi, Ilupeju were suffice to conclude that the party is becoming so hardened by the day.

“They are desperate to retain power , even when it is apparent that they have been rejected by the people. So, if the APC has an inkling about any plan to bomb Ekiti, then it should look inward because we learnt the APC has disagreement with the thugs it imported from Kwara, Lagos and Edo States and this might be responsible for such threat”, Bamidele said.

Bamidele described Governor Mimiko as a thorough-bread progressive politician, who would not contemplate violence, urging Awe  to explain

to the police what the APC-branded vehicle was doing at the venue of LP rally in Ikere  and stop dancing naked in the market square.
