Seven Die In Fresh Boko Haram Attack On Borno Highway


SAN FRANCISCO, April 06, (THEWILL) - Boko Haram gunmen on Saturday struck along the Maiduguri-Biu Highway in Borno State, killing seven persons.

The gunmen were said to have laid siege on the road before killing seven passengers in a vehicle as many other motorists flee the highway for fear of being caught up in the attack.

Local sources in the area said the gunmen waylaid the unsuspecting travellers on Saturday and also stormed Gwargube, an adjoining village to the road, where they summoned the villagers,threatening to kill them if they did not cooperate.

"They stopped the vehicle and killed seven of the occupants.

Many others were injured and taken to hospital in Maiduguri.

"In Gwargube, they vowed to kill the villagers and burn their properties if they cooperate with security operatives.

They did not kill anyone there," a local source said.
