BEVERLY HILLS, CA, April 02, (THEWILL) - The Delta State Government in furtherance of its war against filth has constituted a 25-man special sanitation team, chaired by the State's Deputy Governor, Prof.

Amos Utuama to supervise the cleaning up of Warri, Uvwie and Udu Council Areas within one week.

Prof.
Utuama, told reporters in Warri that the team was raised at a special session of the State Executive Council, presided over by the Governor Dr.

Emmanuel Uduaghan, which held in Warri on Tuesday.
Utuama informed that State Government is worried to observe growing incidents of illegal markets, illegal motor parks and the poor waste disposal habits prevalent in Warri and its environs, which he described as unacceptable.

He lamented that the beautifully designed Enerhen Junction, which was constructed as part of the State Government's junction improvement and beautification programme has been turned into a refuse dump, adding that the popular Ugbuwangwe Junction on the NPA Express way has become an illegal market.

The Deputy Governor stated that the team would not spare any effort in restoring sanity and order to the affected areas and warned defaulters and residents to remove every makeshift structure and refuse or be prepared to face the consequence of their actions.

Prof.
Utuama disclosed that the team would swing into action on Thursday with a survey of areas of concern and charged residents of the areas to be prepared for the new environmental sanitation culture and take steps to comply accordingly.

Answering questions from newsmen, the Deputy Governor said the state waste management Board would be strengthened to ensure that the gains made during the period do not go down the drain.

The Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South, Mr.

Austin Oroye and his Uvwie Counterpart, Mr.
Bright Edgeghwro in separate interviews said they were prepared to deploy men and materials to assist the special sanitation team in its given assignment.

The Permanent Secretary, Governor's Office Annex, Warri, Mr.

Patrick Origho is to serve as secretary of the team.
