FG Appoints 16 Sure-P LG Coordinators In Ekiti

The Federal Government has appointed 16 Local Government Coordinators for the Subsidy Reinvestment Programme (SURE-P) Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme in Ekiti State.

The 16 Local Government Coordinators, who are to coordinate activities of the SURE-P Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme at the grassroots level, will start work on this week.

Inaugurating the Coordinators in Ado-Ekiti today, Ekiti State Coordinator and Chairman, State Implementation Committee of SURE-P, Rt. Hon. Femi Akinyemi, disclosed that over N300 million has been paid to the 3,000 youths employed under the Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme.

He urged political office holders in the country to emulate President Jonathan by focusing more on developments and welfare of the people.

The inauguration of the Coordinator was witnessed by the State Director of the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) and Vice-Chairman of the State Implementation Committee, Mrs Shafaru Adeola, Senatorial Coordinators of the programme for Ekiti Central and North, Mrs. Tosin Aluko and Hon. Dare Olaosebikan, as well as other stakeholders.

"Having made tremendous impact in the lives of Ekiti State and its people through the Community Services, Women and Youths Employment Scheme, the SURE-P is also by today's programme demonstrating its avowed commitment to the programme by inaugurating those whose duty is to coordinate its activities at the grassroot level.

"Like I have said before, SURE-P is a programme specifically designed as part of the transformation agenda of the President Goodluck Jonathan-led federal government for the eradication of poverty, up-liftment and development in Nigeria.

"I am happy to inform you that as at today in Ekiti State, the 3,000 youths employed under the Community Services, Youths and Women Employment Scheme have been paid a total sum of N300 million, being their monthly stipend for 10 months," Akinyemi said.

Speaking on behalf of the Coordinators, the Ekiti West Local Government Coordinator, Mr Akin Omoyele thanked President Goodluck Jonathan for finding them worthy of the appointment.

He described the SURE-P as a laudable programme, promising that the coordinators will be dedicated to their duties.
