Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu'azu Babangida Aliyu has predicted a resounding victory for the People's Democratic Party, PDP, during the 2015 general elections in the country. Aliyu said that all the problems bedevilling the party had been resolved, adding that the coast was now clear for the ruling party to win the forthcoming polls…

Dr. Babangida AliyuThe Governor lampooned party members who defected to the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, thinking that the PDP was finished, saying that such defectors missed the point because, the PDP was now stronger, better, more democratic and transparent.

“Some people think that they have wounded us (PDP) by defecting from the party but I am glad to tell you today that we are stronger, better, more democratic and transparent,” he said.

On Saturday's visit to the state by President Goodluck Jonathan, Aliyu said that the aim was not for the President to declare his 2015 presidential ambition, since it was not a political campaign but a unity rally. According to the governor, Jonathan would declare his interest to run for the election any time he was ready to do so, because it would not be a hidden event.

“President Jonathan is not coming to Niger state to declare his intention to run for 2015 elections neither is he coming to the state to campaign. If he is campaigning, he will announce it. The President is coming to Niger state for a solidarity and unity rally for the North Central,” he added.
