Heritage Bank promotes financial literacy

Ahead of the celebration of this year's Global Money Week, Heritage Bank has reiterated its commitment to boosting financial literacy in the county .

The Bank stated this at the inaugural edition of its financial literacy event in Lagos yesterday .

According to the lender's Group Head, Customer Experience and Analytics Mr Ralph Omoregie, even before the central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) AND THE Bankers' Committee launched the national financial literacy campaign , Heritage Bank has already commenced its own campaign . He explained that the bank right from inception recognised the need to teach financial literacy to primary and secondary school pupils as this would lead to them learning money skills at an early age thus resulting in a better economy for the country.

He argued that many Nigerian do not know how to make money work for them because they did not have the opportunity of learning the skill at an early age

Mr. Omorogie disclosed that the bank which only commence operations in March last year has so far taken its financial literacy campaign close to 30 schools.

He further stated that this year's Global Money Week would be observed from the 10th to the 17thof next month adding that the Bankers' Committee had chosen 13thmarch as Financial Literacy Day.

According to him major events to promote financial literacy would kick off from that date and would include bank Managing Directors going visiting schools to teach financial literacy . The Heritage bank official revealed to adopt a school and help the students in acquiring financial literacy
