Police Recover Over N1million From Armed Robbers In Aba

A combined team of Policemen from the Aba Area Command, Abia State on

Thursday recovered over N1million from fleeing armed robbers.

Also recovered from the robbers were, 2 cartridges of live ammunition

and a double barrel cut to size gun and hand bags suspected to have

been seized from their victims.
Pointblanknews.com gathered that the incident took place around 4pm

around Hospital road by East Street had the robbers numbering three

operating in a tricycle with registration number Abia UNC 076 VX where

they raided a warehouse at No. 185 Hospital road, also robbed other

people.
Sources hinted that the Police patrol teams were alerted to a distress

call that unidentified gunmen were robbing people along East Street by

Hospital road.
According to the source, on sighting the police patrol, the robbers

ran into the crowd leaving their guns, money and bags they snatched

from their victims.
Abia state Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Geoffrey Ogbonna could

not be reached for comment, but a police source who pleaded anonymity

confirmed the incident and disclosed that the amount recovered from

the robbers is around the sum of N1, 147,800:00.
The source added that the robbers could not be arrested as they ran

into a crowded market along Ohanku road making it impossible for the

police to open fire at them to avoid putting the lives of traders in

danger.
