Enough Is Enough On Mrs Biodun Olujimi—A Rejoinder To Ikere PDP Youths Movement Publications

By Leo Ayinka

We write to react as leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) from Ekiti East Local Government Area of Ekiti State to the publication making rounds by a group called Ikere PDP Youths Movement, on the allegations against Chief (Mrs) Biodun Olujimi. The group alleged that Olujimi has dissociated herself from the Ekiti South Senatorial District Governorship Agenda by aspiring to be a minister and by also providing support to one of the aspirants from another zone.

This category of youths are indeed misguided and largely mis-informed and largely misinformed possibly with intention to cause disaffection among leaders of the party, particularly in the Ekiti South Senatorial District and the entire State.

The Ekiti South Senatorial District Governorship Agenda is a collective struggle financed by Chief Mrs Biodun Olujimi and other eminent leaders. It stands logic on the head that Olujimi can work against a platform she has identified with in all her life as a politician.

For ministerial, anybody can aspire to be one. It is however the prerogative of Mr. President to make a choice. Ekiti South Senatorial District has been marginalised for too long for both Governorship and Ministerial positions. In 23 years, Ekiti South occupied the ministerial position ONCE and for ONE YEAR.

We have neither be been appointed Special Advisers nor Assistants to the President while the other two Districts have shared these positions ELEVEN times.

Since Ekiti State was created in 1996, we have not been elected governor. It is indeed a pain in the heart but the solution is not in the dog eating dog. As leaders, we take an exception to the conduct of the belligerent Ikere PDP Youths Movement to our leader and daughter, Chief Mrs Biodun Olujimi, and will use this medium to appeal to PDP leaders in Ikere to call their youths to order. It is an ill-wind, if allowed, will blow no one any good.

On the allegation of fronting for a particular aspirant, as a politician and leader, her doors remain open to all aspirants and she has not denied anyone her counselling. During the last Christmas, she attended the fund-raising organised by friends of Chief Bisi Omoyeni, and also spoke at the event. That was her first and only public outing with any aspirant.

Sponsors of these youths should please be warned that he that lives in glass house does not throw stones. We will not hesitate to fight back at any attempt to rubbish the hard-earned reputation of Mrs Biodun Olujimi, our own golden political fish, our daughter.

The last word, Biodun Olujimi is a descendant of Abraham and whoever blesses her stands blessed. A word is enough for the wise.

Chief Kayode Osadare
