Borno women have called on the Federal Government to take proactive action against the insurgents terrorising the state instead of reactive after attacks.

Aisha Ali Suleiman Chairman of Borno concerned Women , a pressure group in Maiduguri made the call on Thursday through a statement made available to the press on Friday.

The statement said,"Borno concerned women wishes to express its concern over recent happenings in the state particularly the wanton destruction of lives and property as it has no doubt disrupted the emerging peace across the state."

"As women, we feel the impact of all attacks as wives, mothers, daughters and sisters of the state , we feel we are duty bound to add our voice to call on Federal Government to take proactive measures against the insurgents instead of being reactive after attacks."

"We equally call on the National Assembly to take a stand that will force the Government to take positive action instead of allowing Governor Kashim Shettima to do everything alone."

"We appreciate Governor Kashim Shettima's efforts at giving hope and confidence to victims by rebuilding their destroyed houses and bearing the medical bills of the injured".

The women prayed for the peaceful repose of the souls of the dead and urge everyone to commence special prayers to God to bring lasting peace to the state and Nigeria at large.
