Africa Leads soon on Agriculture, Fish Production as Teemartins woos more Communities to Venture into Aquaculture

Teemartins Aquaculture Industry, yesterday, added another feather to its cap as Obeledu community in Anaocha council of Anambra state keyed into jobs and wealth creation via Aquaculture and Value Chain Entrepreneurship, vowing to champion the course of fish production among other agricultural inputs in Africa.

This was sequel to a-one Day Training Workshop on Innovative Table Fish Production, its town union, Obeledu Progress Union (OPU) organized at Obeledu Civic Center in collaboration with Mr. Emeka Iloghalu, the CEO/Coordinator of Teemartins in Africa who doubled as a resource person at the event.

The practically and theoretically oriented capacity building programme was attended by over 40 indigenes of the town, drawn from all works of live and profession.

In a lecture, Mr. Iloghalu who provided the over 40 participants with the basic knowledge needed in fish production and rearing, fingerings, feeds, table fish production, aquaculture products marketing, post harvest processing innovation, logistics, equipment fabrication, products packaging, financing and investment innovation, further charged Africans to give more priority to aquaculture and agriculture with a view to boost the economy of the continent as well as forestall poverty.

While enumerating its function to include individual's financial autonomy, self-reliant, nutritious and medicinal, Teemartins Boss noted that fish farming is one cheapest business to invest on and maximize unlimited profit, stressing also that is marketable and could be exported far and near with no hindrance.

He therefore, advised them to join the business in mechanized way for optimum service delivery, commercialization, regular production, steady supply and uses in hotels, eateries, point and kill, events, occasions and at home, reiterating his determination to touch round the continent through its grassroots to the city with a view to inculcating them that fish farming did not require millions, apartment or pond before it could be established “you can become a billionaire and employer of labour with just 50 fingerings and a rubber butter which serves as fish pond”.

Earlier, Chairman, Finance and Investment Committee of OPU, Chief Innocent Ilozumba while describing the resource person as a humble man and an industrialist who left his profession to invest on people live, charged the participants to be attentive in order to effectively apply the knowledge in transforming the society and the world at large, noted that OPU would assist them in procurement of basic materials, logistics among others through a Microfinance Bank if they successfully form a group.

Chief Innocent who further urged them to extend the information gathered therein to others who could not attend it for any reason, said these could increase their wealth, incomes, the state and local government internally generated revenues, eradicate poverty, attract investors and government presence to the community.

Also speaking, Chairman of the occasion and Secretary of Finance and Investment Committee in OPU, Bar. Edwin Ikechukwu called on youths to return to agriculture rather to engage on social vices, fraud or crime, emphasizing also that the country was in need of vibrant entrepreneurs to move forward, saying that it was among reasons OPU earlier organized similar seminar whereby over 50 indigenes of Obeledu where taught and empowered on soap making business.

In an interview, some of the participants, Dr. Nicodemus Ezenniya and Miss Chetachukwu Ukachukwu vowed to combine aquaculture production with their profession with intent to boosting food production and massive employment ventures in the country.

The workshop also witnessed certificate presentation to all participants.
