SAN FRANCISCO, January 28, (THEWILL) -  Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt.

Honourable Aminu Tambuwal, has described Governor Liyel Imoke of Cross River State as one of the finest politicians in the country.

Tambuwal made the remarks at the implementation of an empowerment programme by Honourable Daniel Asuquo, member of the House of Representatives from Akamkpa and Biase Federal Constituency of Cross River State.

Honourable Tambuwal, who commended Imoke for what he described as an exemplary way he has been relating with members of the National Assembly from Cross River State, said specifically: 'My dear compatriots, let me say that you have a wonderful leader and Governor in the person of Liyel Imoke.

He is one of the finest politicians we have in this country today.

I can say this anywhere and stand by my word.
He has been a stabilising influence on so many of us.

I know what he has been doing, not only on behalf of the party, but also on behalf of the people of Nigeria to stabilize the polity.

' He commended Asuquo for initiating the scheme to uplift the living standard of his people.

The items donated included 25 cars, 70 motorcycles, 50 sewing and weaving machines, 40 hair dressing equipment.

Asuquo also said a sum N10 million would be given out as empowerment grants, while N5 million was set aside for scholarship.

While commending Honourable Asuquo for bringing quality representation to his people, Governor Imoke urged the beneficiaries to make the most of the empowerment largess and extend the gestures to others for its impact to be effectively felt.

'As we celebrate the occasion, every beneficiary should empower others for the impact to be felt effectively.

'Asuquo has spent only two and a half years in the House of Representatives and has represented the state and his constituency very well and has shown his people that they did not make a bad choice by sending him to the National Assembly.

' Imoke urged initiators of empowerment schemes to key into the Enterprise Development Centre to enable them build capacity to become employers of labour, adding that economic development was more important and significant because if it succeeded, it would play a critical role in contributing to the development of the people.

The governor commended Hon.
Tambuwal for his presence as well as taking time out to explain the functions of the legislators, adding that it was proper for those who get the mandate of the people to represent them to come back and show how they have represented their people in the National Assembly.
