Speaking with journalists in Birnin Kebbi on Friday, Commissioner of Police, Mr. Sylvester Umeh said the arms - comprising three AK47, seven magazines, 198 live ammunition and one paranol pistol loaded with eight rounds of live ammunition -were recovered on New Year's Eve.

According to Umeh, 'a Good Samaritan' divulged the discovery to the DPO of Yauri Police Division, Kabiru Abdul, who mobilised his men to the scene and recovered the arms.

'Investigations into the source and identity of the owner of the arms are ongoing', he said, urging members of the public with useful information for thwarting and preventing crimes to provide them to the Police as security is a collective responsibility, and promising them that the command would ensure confidentiality of its informants.
