The Campaign for Democracy (CD) mourns the transition to higher glory of the greatest soul in modern Africa,Dr Nelson Mandela who departed this world on Thursday night at the age of 95.

In Mandela ,Africa and indeed the global community has lost the rarest example of courage,a foremost apostle of freedom and a,worthy elder to all humanity.

Mandela who spent 27 out of his 95 years in prison not for any crime but in stubborn defense of the cause of the blacks in South Africa to shake off the yoke of apartheid remains eternal reference point in consistency and doggedness.

Little wonder the appreciative nation would not allow him to quickly depart even when it was clear that he had reached the end of his journey. They prayed, fasted and kept vigil for Madiba not leave them.

This is a lesson for leaders in our country whose countrymen and women rejoice when evil befalls them.

They must enroll at the Madiba School leadership to learn what leaders do that make their people to pray that they don't die.

Mandela has fought a good race and the curtain is now drawn on his life .We shall bury the mortal aspect of him but his deeds remain immortal.

His moral grandeuer remains the cover wherever men and women long for freedom, his shade cannot fade and his spirit cannot die.

The depth of his sacrifice, the power of his exemplary life and the sheer force of his character stand him out eternally in the affairs of humanity.

Our hearts go to his immediate family, the people and government of South Africa and all freedom loving peoples across the globe as we mourn this irrepressible spirit.

Sleep well Madiba, sweet is your memory!
