Amaechi, Jang set for another showdown as 36 governors head to Sokoto for NGF retreat

The Chairman of the Nigeria Governors' Forum (NGF) and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi is set for another face-off with Governor Jonah Jang of Plateau State who is the Chairman of a factional group of governors, as all the 36 state executives in the federation head to Sokoto State today for a two- day retreat.

The governors are converging in the northern state under the auspices of Amaechi-led NGF as letters of invitation have been dispatched to all the state governors.

The letter of Invitation to the Governors which was signed by the Director-General,   Asishana Okauru read, 'Re: Retreat for Nigerian Governors

'You are kindly invited to attend a 2-day Retreat for the 36 Governors to be hosted by the Sokoto State Governor scheduled as follows: Venue: Government House, Sokoto, Date: Friday 15th  & Saturday   16th November, 2013. '

According to him, the retreat will focus on Forensic examination of NNPC & FAAC; Leaving a sustainable legacy; Deepening democracy & federalism; Insecurity at the sub-national level; Constitutionalism, Rule of law &human rights. We have lined up a number of very excellent professionals to guide this process.'

It should be recalled that there have been series of confrontations between Governors Amaechi and Jang who both chair two Secretariats of the NGF.
