President Goodluck Jonathan will lead Vice President Namadi Sambo, Senate President David Mark and the National Chairman of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, to Anambra State today for the campaign rally of the governorship candidate of the party, Comrade Tony Nwoye.

Others who will be at the rally today include the Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the party, Chief Tony Anenih; the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Wasiri Tambuwal and many others.

Nwoye has already declared his readiness as well as that of his party for the election.

The rally is scheduled to hold at the Dr Alex Ekwueme Square in Awka instead of the earlier announced Holy Trinity ground in the commercial city of Onitsha.

Members of the party in the state continued their grassroots campaign yesterday with visits to Awka South, Enugwu Agidi, Idemili South and Orumba South local government areas.

Different groups, including women and youths, have sewn different colours of PDP clothes to attend the rally in Awka today.

Speaking with The Nation before the rally at Ogbugba-nkwa arena in Awka yesterday, Nwoye said the PDP was not afraid of any party, adding that the rally at Ekwueme Square today would tell the people that the party was ready.

He said arrangements had been concluded to host the PDP chieftains in the state, adding: 'Anambra is PDP state and nobody can take that away.'

The Nation also gathered yesterday that some party leaders who had turned their backs on PDP in the state before now had returned to give support to Nwoye.

The party leaders and financiers include Prince Arthur Eze, Sir Emeka Offor, Dr. ABC Orjiakor and cement mogul, Chief Cletus Ibeto, among others.
