To ensure the absent of voters apathy on the forthcoming governorship election in Anambra state, a pressure group, Nigeria Independent Council of Electorate (NICE) says it has embarked on sensitization of eligible voters in the state to come out en masse and exercise their franchise during the election.

National President of NICE, Ambassador Godswill Macpepple disclosed this at Women Development Center, Awka, while inuagurating Anambra state chapter of the union even as he posited that the gubernatorial poll would be free of violence.

Macpepple who reminded electorate that voting is their birthright, posited that election is the only legitimate means of overthrowing a democratically elected government.

"Humans created government to protect their rights among other needs. Thus, any government who fails to hearken to the yearning of its citizenry are overthrown through massive voting not rigging, thuggery or violence. Herein, NICE arose to instill the spirit into Nigerians especially Anambrarians as they go to polling booths on 16th of this months. We are urging them to go and vote based on credibility of an individual not as a result of monetary or special inducement, religion or region but according to your conscience in accordance to the Electoral Act which is also in line with the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria", he said.

The NICE boss also charged security apparatus to be at alert within and after the governorship poll so that the election would be hicthfree.

On his acceptance speech, the Anambra state Chairman of NICE, Comrade Peter Okafor enjoined Anambrarians to vote for a candidate who is capable and ready to transport the state into an enviable height by sustaining the sustainable developmental projects and policies of the outgoing administration as well as to initiate new ones when the need arises.
