Unknown gunmen kill 4 police officers in Kaduna

Unknown gunmen have killed four policemen in two separate attacks on a Divisional Police Station in Kajuru, headquarters of Kajuru local government of area and in Nungu community in Sanga local government area of Kaduna State.

According Channels Television report,  three policemen died in the attack in Kajuru, while two persons, including a police officer died in the attack on Nungu community.

The gunmen, who were said to have arrived Kajuru at about 11.30pm on Monday night and armed with sophisticated weapons, launched an attack at the police station and freed all the suspected criminals detained there.

Eyewitnesses said that two of the policemen on duty died on the spot while the third one said to be a police woman died on the way to the hospital.

They said the gunmen stormed the police station in several vehicles and started shooting sporadically as they arrived the police station.

However, Spokesman of Kaduna Police Command, DSP Aminu Lawan who confirmed the incident to Channels Television, said the gunmen suspected to be armed robbers ram into the Police Station unknowingly after an operation and in the process, engaged the policemen on duty in a shootout that led to the death of two policemen.

He said that some of the gunmen escaped with gunshot wounds while the police mounted a man hunt for their arrest
