Lagos NUJ Officials In Fatal Auto-crash; Two Dead, Many Injured

Tragedy hit the journalism profession friday, as three members of the Lagos State chapter of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ) were confirmed dead in a fatal auto crash at Ilesa, Osun State.

Thegazellenews.com learnt that the journalists were returning from a meeting of the federated chapels all over the country with the national leadership of the NUJ which took place at the NUJ national secretariat in Abuja.

One of those confirmed dead in the crash was the former Secretary of the union, Mr. Adolphus Okonkwo, a staff of the Voice of Nigeria. He was a member of the NUJ team kidnapped in Akwa Ibom State few years ago.

The fate of the Chairman of the Lagos NUJ, Mr. Deji Elumoye is reportedly hanging in the balance as he was reported to be among those critically injured in the crash.
