Tukur faults Fayose's suspension

The National Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur, has faulted the suspension of a former Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayo Fayose, from the party.

Tukur, in a statement on Friday by his Special Assistant on Media, Oliver Okpala, said this when he received some members of the party executive from Ekiti State.

He said he was surprised that 'such a far-reaching decision involving a former governor and governorship aspirant of the party could be taken by the state chapter without due consultations and consent of the national leadership.'

He wondered why the decision was taken in a hurry when he received the complaint of the state executive a few days ago.

He said, 'It is the view of the national chairman that the state executive, having brought the matter, would have allowed the national leadership to look into it and take a decision before the hurried suspension.'

He said that such a decision violated laid down procedures and could not stand.
