EGYPT: inclusive government now, says Bonino

ROME, Italy, July 8, 2013/African Press Organization (APO)/ -- The only way out for Egypt now “is an inclusive political process open to the concrete participation of all the political forces”, was Minister Emma Bonino's statement as she met with Kuwaiti leaders on the first leg of her trip to the Gulf. On the eve of the European meeting in Vilnius where the Egyptian situation will be discussed, the minister reiterated that “it is never a good day when the military take power”, and that the country “needs a return to normality, avoiding arbitrary arrests and ensuring due process to all those who have been arrested”.

Need to return to normality

And a return to normality, the chief of Italian diplomacy said, is also a necessary requirement for responding to the everyday economic and social challenges that, more than anything else, affect the needs of the people. And it is everyone's responsibility to contribute to creating a favourable climate in which Egypt will be able to confront the challenges that await it. This was what emerged from Minister Emma Bonino's meeting in the Kuwaiti capital with Emir Sabah al-Ahmad al-Sabah, Premier Jabir al-Mubarak al-Sabah and Foreign Minister Sabah al-Khalid al-Sabah.
