Aig-Imoukhuede appointed NSE Vice-President

The rising profile of Acces Bank Plc's Managing Director/ Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Aigboje Aig-Imoukhuede has been further enhanced with his appointment as vice-president of the council of Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

The appointment was made after the 52nd Annual General Meeting of the Nigerian Stock Exchange held in May 2013.

The CEO of The Nigerian Stock Exchange, Mr. Oscar Onyema, while explaining the basis of the appointment said, 'The Council recognizes his sterling qualities and wealth of experience, and is delighted with the appointment. We believe that he will not relent in his efforts as an ambassador to move The Exchange forward'.

With this development, Aig-Imoukhuede will be working with Alhaji Aliko Dangote, Africa's richest man, who is the current president of the council.

The Council of the Nigerian bourse is made up of 14 members, consisting of the President, the Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Oscar Onyema and other members including representatives of dealing member firms, who are highly qualified in their respective professions with a wealth of diverse experience.

Aig-Imoukhuede is the current Group Managing Director/CEO of Access Bank Plc. He resigned as an Executive Director of Guaranty Trust Bank Plc (GT Bank) to lead a team as the MD/CEO of Access Bank with the mandate to transform the Bank into a world-class financial services provider. His visionary leadership has seen the Bank's rapid rise to rank among Nigeria's Tier 1 banks. In 2012, he won the 2011 Ernst & Young West Africa Entrepreneur of the Year Award and was recently conferred with the prestigious African Banker Award by the African Banker Magazine

 
Mr. Aig-Imoukhuede is an alumnus of Harvard Business School's Executive Management Programme. He holds LLB and BL degrees from the University of Benin and the Nigeria Law School respectively. He is also an Honorary Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria. He is Chairman of ; The Access Bank (UK) Ltd, Wapic Insurance Plc , Associated Discount House Ltd and FMDQ Plc. He is also Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Financial Markets Dealers Association.

Similarly, the Council announced the appointment of Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo, as second Vice President.  Mr. Abimbola Ogunbanjo is the Managing Partner at Chris Ogunbanjo & Co. a leading international law firm. He has vast knowledge and experience in the areas of Corporate Commercial and Admiralty Law. He has garnered considerable corporate finance experience over the years, with a brilliant understanding of legal issues in his preferred areas of practice. He is a member of the International Bar Association; the Institute of Petroleum (UK); Member, the International Trademark Association; he is a Governing Council Member and Legal Adviser of the Nigerian Chamber of Shipping, Vice Chairman of the Commercial Law and Taxation Committee of the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry among other institutions.

Mr. Ogunbanjo was actively involved in establishing Brass LNG Limited and putting in place all legal and corporate structures for the company preparatory to its full operations. He is a director of several multinational companies with a broad Industry focus including ConocoPhillips, ABB Powerlines, Beta Glass Plc and Investment Securities Limited.

The governance of The Exchange is vested in its Council which directs The Exchange's business and financial affairs, strategy, structures and policies; monitors the exercise of any delegated authority; and deals with challenges and issues relating to corporate governance, corporate social responsibility and corporate ethics.
