Atiku To Deliver Lecture On Deepening Democracy In Africa In Geneva
SAN FRANCISCO, April 21, (THEWILL) - Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar will be the guest of the Geneva School of Diplomacy and International Relations on April 29, 2013, where he is scheduled to deliver a paper entitled, "Deepening Democracy: Implications for Africa."
While in Geneva, the former Vice President will address students, faculty and staff members of the school to share his political experiences and thoughts with key and wider international audiences.
According to a programme of events released by the school authorities, the organizers said Atiku is being invited to deliver the paper in recognition of what they described as his role as a policy-maker with knowledge of social, economic, political and diplomatic developments in Africa.
The organizers also indicated in their letter of invitation that the former Vice President might be included in their future activities of international diplomatic negotiations in collaboration with the United Nations.
Impressed by Atiku's vast and visible profile in Africa, the Geneva School of International Diplomacy also announced that it plans to include the former Vice President of Nigeria in its future campaign for a UN Parliamentary Assembly in collaboration with global networks of NGOs, global actors and parliamentarians advocating a strong citizens representation in the United Nations.
It said Atiku might be engaged as part of the advisory group of United Nations Parliamentary Campaign (UNPA).
