Preferred Bidder Emerges For Calabar Specialist Hospital Project

SAN FRANCISCO, April 05, (THEWILL) – The Cross River State Executive Council has approved the procurement of UTOPIAN CONSULTING LIMITED as the Preferred Bidder for the Calabar Specialist Hospital Project.

Utopian Consulting emerged after a thorough and transparent procurement process, supervised by the International Finance Corporation, (IFC), retained by the Cross River State Government to act as lead advisor in structuring and implementing the Project.

The Project involves the design, construction, operation and maintenance of a 100 bed Specialist Hospital being developed by the Government of Cross River State, in partnership with the private sector.

Upon completion, the Hospital will offer a comprehensive package of secondary heath care services, including a gateway clinic offering primary healthcare service and a referral mechanism for the Hospital.

The specialist services to be offered at the Hospital are to provide efficient and effective healthcare services to indigenes and residents of Cross River State.

It is also expected to reduce overseas medical evacuation currently estimated at millions of Dollars and, fulfill Governor Liyel Imoke's vision of providing improved health care delivery not just to the people of the State, but also neighbouring states.

In addition to the resident specialisations, the hospital is expected to offer services through specialist missions in dermatology, urology, eye surgery, advanced dental surgery etc.

The hospital is to be located at the New Development Area, Calabar Municipality, Cross River State.
