The Oyo State Government on Tuesday distributed N18m grant-in-aid to the community development associations across the 33 local government council areas of the state for the execution of self-help projects, warning the associations against mismanaging the funds.

Commissioner for Women Affairs, Community Development, Social Welfare and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Atinuke Osunkoya, said this at the Social Development Staff Training Centre venue of the programme.

She said the gesture was in line with state government's decision to support development drives across the state.

Osunkoya, said, 'This gesture is basically designed to complement efforts of various Community Development Associations towards socio-economic development of the communities.'

The commissioner added that the N18m approved by the government was a remarkable improvement upon the initial N10m grant to CDAs.

She stated, 'I am particularly pleased that the increase from N10m in 2010 to N18m in 2012 is a clear indication that the present administration in the state has put in place good plans for improved self-help project in the communities.''
