Fraud: ACN Wants Urban Development Commissioner Sacked

By RiversACN

The Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN), Rivers State, has called for the immediate sack of the Commissioner for Urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo for running the most fraudulent ministry in the history of the State.

The position of the party was contained in a press statement signed by the Publicity Secretary, Jerry Needam on-behalf of the ACN and made available to journalists.

''It is shameful that officials of the Ministry of Urban Development openly extort large sums of money from prospective land developers using the name of the Commissioner, right under his nose''.

''We insist that the Commissioner for Urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo must tell Rivers people and Nigerians all he knows about the extortion of over one million naira from a renowned Minister of God in Port Harcourt by officials of his Ministry.

We demand to know why officials of the ministry demand special money ranging from N50,000 to N500,000.00 from prospecting land developers to enable the Commissioner for urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo visit sites to be developed in Port Harcourt.

We also demand to know why Mr Tammy Danagogo has refused to act on several complaints and petitions from affected land developers sent to him.

The ACN therefore urges the State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi to sack the Commissioner for Urban Development, Mr Tammy Danagogo if he still insists on Zero-tolerance for corruption etc.

The party said attempts by Mr Tammy Danagogo to absolve himself on a Silverbird Rhythm 93.7 FM news and current affairs programme, View Point on Saturday, September 15, 2012 over fraudulent activities under his watch were not convincing.

The ACN said leaving Mr Tammy Danagogo in office a day longer would no doubt portray Governor Amaechi's war against corrupt practices as mere propaganda.

The ACN contends that Rivers people and Nigerians will take Amaechi serious in the war against corruption when corruptly enriched functionaries of government are reprimanded.

“Making them sacred cows, gives the impression that what the Amaechi administration wants is somebody who licks its boots. It does not care even if such a fellow is a rogue, ACN concluded.''
