The 132 KV Power Station in Ohiya Umuahia will soon be commissioned. In a press statement by the Chief Press Secretary Ugochukwu Emezue, Abia State Governor Chief Theodore Orji who has invested huge amounts in the power project initiated by the Federal Government has declared that he is satisfied with the wonderful job done by the contractors.

According to the Governor the evacuation of power from the Ohiya station to Umuahia and some parts of the Abia being sponsored by the State Government is a dream come true. Chief Orji stated that the test transmission which is ongoing is to identify areas that are faulty so as to correct them. As soon as this is done and confirmed, the power project will be officially commissioned for the effective distribution of power to consumers.

Chief Orji hinted that the Alaoji power station is in progress and when completed it will go a long way to address the power needs of Aba people. The Governor stated that though the power stations in Abia are being constructed by Federal Government the State Government decided to partner the Federal Government to fast track these projects, bearing in mind that it will boost the State's economy.

Chief Orji hinted that with the realisation of Ohiya power project the water problem in Umuahia would soon be fully solved. The Umuopara Regional Water Scheme, Chief Orji revealed will be connected to the Ohiya Power Station as pumping of water to the capital and its environs will then be constant. The Governor used the opportunity to tell Abians to have more confidence in him as he is addressing their needs in all sectors gradually. He stated it clearly that he will not fail in his assignment to transform Abia State.
