Senator Ndume Charged, Remanded In SSS Custody

SENATOR ALI NDUME IN CUSTODY OF SSS, TUESDAY NOVEMBER 22, 2011

SAN FRANCISCO, November 22, (THEWILL) - A Nigerian serving senator, Senator Ali Ndume, arrested Monday night following his alleged ties to Boko Haram was charged today before Chief Magistrate Oyebola Oyewunmi in Abuja and subsequently remanded in the custody of the SSS until December 06, 2011, when the case continues.


He faces a two-count charge bordering on breach of official trust and criminal conduct. He pled not guilty.


The arrested spokesman of the Boko Haram sect, Ali Sanda Umar Konduga, also known as Usman Al-Zawahiri was also charged and convicted before Chief Magistrate Oyewunmi after he entered a guilty plea.


Al-Zawahiri was arrested on November 03, 2011, by security operatives in Maiduguri, the Borno State capital.
