NFF TO PAY KESHI N5M

Newly appointed Super Eagles' Coach, Stephen Keshi, is to earn N5 million, the same amount Nigeria Football Federation, (NFF) paid the former head coach, Samson Siasia. NFF Technical Committee recommended to the board that Keshi's assistant who is yet to be picked by the Togo's former chief coach, would also go home with N3 million.

NFF has given Keshi a free hand to appoint his assistant, as it is not ready to impose anybody on the Eagles' ex-skipper. Although, it was earlier speculated that the coach had agreed to take N3 million but NFF confirmed that his salary had been fixed at N5 million.

'In any employment, salary must be fixed. There's nothing like fixing a salary based on performance. Allowances could be based on performance and NFF couldn't go below or more than the N5 million,' the NFF source said.

The board believes it would not be proper to pay Keshi peanuts after rating the status of the Eagles head coach with N5 million. The Togo and Mali national teams' former coach would soon be unveiled to the public after studing the contract paper with the NFF.

Meanwhile, some coaches have been lobbying Keshi to serve as his assistant before NFF deliberate on the issue next week. It was revealed that some notable ex-internationals who played with the 'Big boss' in the Eagles have been lobbying him for consideration.
