Following the decline in the fortune of Nigerian football, the Glass House has stated that the situation requires strong spiritual approach, urging Nigerians to support the football house with fervent intercessory prayers.

The President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), Alhaji Aminu Maigari, who made the appeal in an interactive session with the media in Abuja, urged Nigerians to see the woes as trying times for Nigerian football, which, according to him, would require a high level of spirituality to turn things around.

'I want to make this pledge to Nigerians to see what is happening to Nigerian football as our trying time. We have to approach the situation with high level of spirituality. We must continue to pray for the progress of the game in the country,' Maigari said.

'We have to continue to work together. People should bring in their ideas instead of allowing the federation to run the game alone. We need to work together, especially at this trying times.

'We want ideas from people to move forward,' he noted.

Reacting to the list the Dream Team V's Chief Coach, Austin Eguavoen released recently, Maigari condemned the roll call of foreign-based players that dominated the list, admitting that it was an indictment on our domestic league.

'I'm a proponent of de-emphasis on excessive use of foreign-based players. I feel like urging the national team coaches to reduce the trend, but at the same time, I feel constrained because I want to avoid the situation where people will allege that I am interfering in the job of the coaches.

'In as much as I don't want to be accused of interference, I want to say that it is crazy for a coach to invite 25 foreign-based players. Does it mean there are no good players in our domestic league?' the NFF boss queried.
